Anaheim : Robbery Suspect Is Held After Chase, Crash
A chase during rush hour Friday ended in a crash, a pursuit on foot along the Riverside Freeway and the arrest of a bank robbery suspect by Anaheim police, authorities said.
Anaheim police said Ernesto Hernandes Torres, 27, of Whittier was arrested on suspicion of robbery. No one was injured in the chase and crash that occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Friday.
Police said a man held up a Wells Fargo Bank in the 1000 block of East Orangethorpe Avenue and fled in a white sedan.
Anaheim police officer Joe Vargis spotted a white sedan minutes later and gave chase as the car entered the Riverside Freeway. There, it crashed into a pickup truck, then rammed the center divider near the Brookhurst Street off-ramp. Police said Torres ran from the crash scene and that officers arrested him several blocks away.
