About the only thing that could worry the Phoenix Suns at this point is that they might be peaking too soon.

In their efforts to catch the Lakers for the National Basketball Assn.’s Pacific Division lead and home-court advantage in the playoffs, the Suns on Monday won their eighth straight game, routing the Sacramento Kings at Phoenix, 140-85.

The Suns trail the defending champion Lakers by a half-game.

Eddie Johnson scored 21 of his 24 points in a lopsided second period as the Suns scored the biggest victory margin in the NBA this season and improved to 28-0 at home against Western Conference competition.

Tom Chambers finished with 20 points, Armon Gilliam had 19, and Kevin Johnson scored 17 points and added 15 assists for the Suns.
