Three-time U.S. motorcycle champion Bubba Shobert remained in critical condition with a head injury after a collision Sunday during the victory lap of the U.S. International Grand Prix at Laguna Seca Raceway.
Shobert was riding beside his friend, defending 500cc world champion Eddie Lawson, congratulating him on his third-place finish.
Fourth-place finisher Kevin Magee of Australia, who had slowed dramatically on the final lap, apparently ran out of fuel and was almost stopped on an uphill grade when Shobert hit him from behind.
