Share

A Santa Ana man died Tuesday morning from injuries he suffered when the motorcycle he was driving hit a car broadside.

William Glen Cavin, 29, suffered massive head injuries when his 1972 Harley-Davidson motorcycle collided with a 1973 Plymouth in the intersection of Grand Avenue and 15th Street early Monday. He died at UCI Medical Center.

Police said Cavin was northbound on Grand Avenue with his brother, Christopher Cavin, 25, when the car, traveling east along 15th Street without its headlights on, pulled in front of them at 2:40 a.m.

The car driver, who fled on foot and has not been located, appears to be at fault, police said.

Christopher Cavin was taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition Tuesday with a broken right leg and facial cuts and bruises. Neither brother was wearing a helmet, police said.

“We were just coming home from a friend’s house,” said Christopher Cavin from his hospital room. He said that when he saw the car pull into the intersection, he realized “it was too late to stop.”

Christopher Cavin said he and his brother had been looking for an apartment together. “We were planning on getting something as soon as possible.”

William Cavin is also survived by his parents, Robert and Joanne Cavin of Santa Ana.
