Eagle Scout’s Training Benefits Injured Jogger

Share

A jogger involved in a collision with a bicyclist can be thankful that Eagle Scout Mike Tardif had earned a Boy Scout badge for first aid.

“There was a group of people just standing around looking at this man who was bleeding profusely from his head and leg,” said the 18-year-old from Irvine, who saw the March 20 accident while driving with his mother and sister. “I immediately started administering first aid and kept talking so that he wouldn’t go into shock.”

Tardif asked someone to call 911 and helped the victim until paramedics arrived.

Tardif, a senior at Woodbridge High School in Irvine, received an outstanding citizen award from Villa Nova, a Newport Beach restaurant that honors individuals who perform good deeds in the community.
