Share

Ron B. Rose, who grew weary of what he described as the frustration and hopelessness that he found in most AIDS support groups after his own fatal illness was diagnosed in 1985 and founded a group to celebrate what life was left to himself and other patients, died Tuesday in Los Angeles. He was 37.

The founder of Being Alive, a group that he described as “getting people that were being isolated back doing things,” died of the complications of acquired immune deficiency syndrome.

In addition to Being Alive, he also founded the West Hollywood Annual Candlelight AIDS Vigil and Rally, and was co-chairman of the National Assn. of People with AIDS, a member of the board of directors of Aid for AIDS and coordinator of the 1989 Heart to Heart National Conference.
