Raul Julia is Dr. Frankenstein in “Frankenstein Unbound,” which marks the directorial return (a record 18-year hiatus) of Roger Corman. In Corman, Brian Aldis and F.X. Feeney’s script, a 21st-Century scientist goes back two centuries to discover the literary creation was real. The Thom Mount Co. production gets underway in Bergamo, Italy in June. . . . In addition to writing-directing “My Father’s Eyes,” Lou Diamond Phillips now stars in the production next September. Phillips plays a young man--seen in flashbacks--who dies in a freak accident shortly after the birth of his son, who’s now a teen-ager. Karen Allen co-stars in the Daniel Eisenberg production. . . .

Rip Torn plays Walt Whitman in Cinepix’s “Beautiful Dreamers,” a romantic idyll filming next month in Toronto. Written and directed by John Kent Harris, the story centers on the writer’s affair with a woman doctor in Canada during the 1880s. Colm Feore and Wendel Meldrun co-star in the Steven Roth production. . . .

Richard Ford’s novel “Bright Angel” goes to screen this summer with Dermot Mulroney portraying a young man attempting to reconcile with his father. Sam Shepard plays the enigmatic dad in Ford’s adaptation for director Michael Fields. Sue Baden-Powell, Page Simpson and Rob MacLean produce for Hemdale. . . .

Guy Madison, TV’s Wild Bill Hickock, and Rory Calhoun play old cowhands in Wouk/Ware’s “Bad Jim.” The shaggy dog western centers on a good guy who goes wrong after finding Billy the Kid’s horse.
