Chimpanzee Expert Goodall Will Speak

Jane Goodall, who has studied chimpanzees in Africa since 1960, will discuss aspects of her work at two events this week.

The world famous primatologist will be at the Santa Monica College Gym on Tuesday at 11 a.m. to discuss her work at Gombe National Park in Tanzania.

On Friday, Goodall will talk about chimpanzee infants and mothers in a symposium on “Co-Occupations of Infants and Mothers” at the USC Norris Cinema Theatre. The daylong symposium, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., will include speakers from various fields discussing the infant/mother relationship.

ARCHEOLOGY

The Gottschall Site, a newly discovered rock shelter in southwestern Wisconsin containing examples of prehistoric rock art, will be the subject of a lecture sponsored by UCLA’s Institute of Archeology on May 4 at 8 p.m. in Kinsey Hall 169. Call (213) 206-8934.

SCIENCE FOR KIDS

The “Science Festival for Kids” continues at Kidspace Museum in Pasadena with workshops on that familiar star, the sun, and on the birds of California.
