IN BRIEF : Bills’ Kelly Sues Former Agents

Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly filed a $58-million lawsuit today against his former agents for alleged improprieties in the handling of his business affairs.

Kelly filed the suit in district court in Fort Bend County, Tex., where he maintains his legal residence. The suit seeks $30 million in damages, $28 million in punitive damages and $200,000 in attorney’s fees from Gregory Lustig, Kenneth Weinberger and A. J. Faigin, Kelly’s agents from 1983 to 1988.

Among other things, the suit charges that the agents double-billed Kelly for services rendered and charged him for non-existent services. It also claims that they took money that belonged to him and advised him to enter into “unsuitable” investments.

One investment mentioned in the suit was the 1984 purchase of one unit in the Madison Plaza Associates Limited Partnership. According to the suit, Kelly’s name was forged on documents pertaining to the transaction.
