Motorcycle Hits, Kills Pedestrian
A speeding motorcycle hit a pedestrian on a Van Nuys street Thursday, instantly killing her, Los Angeles police said.
The motorcyclist, who was critically injured, was traveling south on Coldwater Canyon Avenue near Oxnard Street when his bike struck the woman as she was walking across the street, Officer Bill Harkness said.
Neither the woman’s identity nor the motorcyclist’s was immediately released. He was in critical condition at St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, said Betty Neilson, nursing supervisor.
Police said witnesses told them that the motorcycle appeared to be going about 100 m.p.h. when the accident occurred about 9 p.m.
