Two people were killed when their automobile overturned in a three-car accident Friday in Lakeside, the California Highway Patrol said.
The accident occurred about 2:30 p.m. on California 67 near Johnson Lake Road when the driver of one car traveling north stopped abruptly, causing it to swerve into the southbound lane, striking a second auto, police said. As the second car spun around, it was hit by another northbound vehicle, causing the second auto to overturn.
The two victims were the second car's driver and passenger, police said. The victims' names had not been released as of late Friday night.
The drivers of the two other cars involved in the accident were uninjured, police said.
