IN BRIEF : U.S.-Taiwan Baseball Series Slated
A two-game baseball series between the U.S. national team and the Chinese-Taipei (Taiwan) national team will be played in Austin on July 4 and 5.
The city of Austin, the University of Texas, the Chamber of Commerce and YMCA officials announced Tuesday that they had agreed to host the series at UT’s Disch-Falk Field.
University officials said they expect more than 7,000 fans at each of the games, which will be a rematch of the 1988 World Championships in Italy, where the United States swept Taiwan 9-1 and 6-3.
