Soul singer James Brown, celebrating his 56th birthday in prison Wednesday, was allowed to take a brief telephone call from Arsenio Hall, during which Hall wished him well and told him his fans missed him. Jesse Jackson made arrangements for the call during a visit to Brown, who is at the State Park Correctional Center in South Carolina. Hall played a tape of the 5-minute conversation on his TV show Thursday night. Brown is serving time for aggravated assault and failing to stop for police during a chase across the Georgia-South Carolina border Sept. 26.
