SINGLE-FAMILY ACTION IN DECLINE
The 452 building permits issued during February for single-family homes is the lowest monthly total since last July. It is also the fewest permits issued in February during the last four years. During the first two months of this year, the period for which the most recent information is available, 931 permits were issued--also the lowest two-month total for any of the last four years.
New permits relative to last year are down substantially in the unincorporated areas as well as the cities of Yorba Linda and Irvine; the major gains, such as they are, took place in Huntington Beach, San Juan Capistrano and Orange.
