Rolls-Royce Viewed as a Fitting Tribute
Leo Friedman wrote in sports viewpoint (April 29) that he viewed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s farewell at the Forum as a disgrace to the athletic world--that a millionaire should not receive a Rolls-Royce, that instead charity should be the winner.
Obviously, this Laker fan is not aware of the thousands of dollars the players (including Abdul-Jabbar) raise for respective charities each season.
After his 20 years in the NBA and in recognition for everything he has done for the sport, I feel this was both a fitting and touching tribute to Abdul-Jabbar.
