High School Track Finals : CHANNEL LEAGUE

Scott Guerrero of Rio Mesa won the 800, placed second in the 400 and anchored the Spartans’ victorious 1,600-meter relay at Santa Barbara City College.

Guerrero led a one-two Rio Mesa finish in the 800, running 1:59.4, ahead of Mark Gruber’s 1:59.9. In the 400, Guerrero had the same time as winner Kye Wilson of Hueneme but lost by inches.

Eric Thomas and Patrick Van Scoy also won events for Rio Mesa, the four-time defending league champion.

Thomas tied his personal best in the high jump at 6-8, and Van Scoy took the shotput at 52-8 1/2.

In the girls’ meet, Angela Burnham of Rio Mesa won the 100 in 11.7 and 200 meters in 25.0.

She also teamed with freshman Danielle Tanner, sophomore Stacy Rosemeyer and senior Shannon Wiebelhaus on the victorious 400 (49.0) and 1,600 (3:57.5) relays.

Wiebelhaus (300 low hurdles) and Tanner (400) also won individual events.

Teammate Tarin Tucker was a double winner in the long jump (15-11 1/4) and triple jump (34-4).

FOOTHILL LEAGUE

Todd Lewis of Burbank and Steve Hubbell of Burroughs each won two events in the meet at Burbank.

Lewis, the national leader in the 1,600 meters, won that event in 4:24.6, then added the 3,200 title in 9:53.2.

Hubbell won the 100 meters in 11.4 and the 200 in 22.9. He also ran the first leg on the victorious mile relay (3:30.3).

In other events, Paul Tapp of Burbank led a 1-2-3 Bulldog finish in the high jump and teammate Robert Lopez won the 800 in 2:00.1.

FRONTIER LEAGUE

Agoura won 10 of 16 boys’ events and eight of 15 girls’ events in the meet at Nordhoff High.

Jeff Ingalls and Bryan Dameworth led the Charger onslaught in the boys’ meet, and Julie Tingle and Deena Drossin did likewise in the girls’ meet.

Ingalls won the 100 meters (11.1), the 220 yards (23.4), the 440 (50.8), and anchored the victorious mile relay (3:31.1), and Dameworth won the mile (4:18.3) and two-mile (9:31.8).

Agoura’s John Sommers won the pole vault (14-6).

Tingle won the 100-meter low hurdles in 15.3, the 330-yard low hurdles in 46.4, and anchored the Chargers’ victorious 440 (51.5) and mile relays (4:13.0).

Drossin led 1-2 Agoura finishes in the mile (5:17.6) and two-mile (11:11.8). Teammate Anette Noel won the shotput with a personal best of 40-4 1/2.

GOLDEN LEAGUE

Canyon’s Corey Harrold and Cindy Byrne each won two events in the meet at Birmingham High.

Harrold won the 200 in 22.73 and the 400 in 49.00, and Byrne placed first in the girls’ 100- (15.92) and 300-meter low hurdles (47.13).
