Two Jockeys Are Hospitalized Briefly After Four-Horse Spill at Hollywood

Share

Jockey Alex Solis was released from Centinela Hospital Medical Center Friday night after three hours of observation following a four-horse spill during the sixth race at Hollywood Park.

Eddie Delahoussaye, whose mount, 4-year-old Baino Park, broke down at the wire to trigger the chain reaction, was released earlier after a brief examination.

The other two riders involved, Chris McCarron and Henry Garcia, were examined at the track and allowed to ride subsequent races.

Baino Park was humanely destroyed after being removed from the track by ambulance.

“When Eddie’s horse broke it’s leg, Alex ran right into him,” McCarron said. “Then, as Alex’s horse (Valentine Wine) was getting up, both me (on Son Of One) and Garcia (on Singaroundtheworld) ran into it.

“My horse went left, and I fell to the right. I landed sort of on my back and side, but other than a stiff neck, I’m OK.”
