Singer Fats Domino has canceled a scheduled weekend appearance at Bally’s Reno because of high blood pressure, a spokesman for the hotel-casino said Tuesday. Last Sunday, Domino performed at the closing of the New Orleans Jazz Festival with no visible signs of problems, rousing the audience with his trademark ending in which he played the piano so hard he knocked it across the stage in time with the beat. Domino was to perform in five shows at Bally’s with Chubby Checker, but since “Chubby’s only half of the show we promised, we’re canceling the whole thing,” a hotel spokesman said.
