“(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life,” the Bill Medley-Jennifer Warnes duet from the movie “Dirty Dancing,” was named Song of the Year for 1988 at the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers on Monday. The award was scheduled to be made at a dinner at the Beverly Wilshire to co-writers John De Nicola, Donald Markowitz and Franke Previte. The song earned the title by being the most-performed item in the ASCAP catalogue for the year. Debbie Gibson and Bruce Springsteen tied for the songwriter of the year award, each with four songs among the year’s most-heard.
