A fire in a Logan Heights furniture shop Tuesday morning caused $50,000 in damage but no injuries, authorities said.

Firefighters responding to a 11:14 a.m. call found smoke and flames pouring from a two-story building owned by California Wood Designs in the 2100 block of Newton Avenue.

The owner told authorities the fire started in a spray booth where wood-finish sprays are applied to furniture. The fire was apparently caused by overheated paint residue. It was extinguished in about a half hour.
