IN BRIEF : Rodman, Jordan Top Defense Team
Forward Dennis Rodman, the Detroit Pistons’ outstanding sixth man, and Chicago’s Michael Jordan, the NBA scoring champion, head the league’s All-Defensive team announced today.
In balloting by the league’s coaches, Rodman received 23 of a possible 24 first-team votes, plus one second-team vote, for a total of 47 points. Two points were awarded for a first-team vote and one point for a second-team vote.
Coaches were not allowed to vote for players from their own teams.
Jordan, the Bulls’ high-scoring guard, was second in the voting with 39 points. Others named to the first team were Cleveland forward Larry Nance, 28 points; Utah center Mark Eaton, 29 points, and Detroit guard Joe Dumars, 36 points.
Selected to the second team were forwards Kevin McHale of Boston and A. C. Green of the Lakers, center Patrick Ewing of New York and guards John Stockton of Utah and Alvin Robertson of San Antonio.
