Nunn Will Defend His IBF Title Against Barkley Aug. 14 in Reno
International Boxing Federation middleweight champion Michael Nunn of North Hollywood has signed to defend his title against former World Boxing Council champion Iran Barkley on Aug. 14 in Reno.
It’ll be the third title defense for the unbeaten Nunn (33-0, 23 knockouts), who is coming off his most impressive performance, a devastating first-round knockout of Sumbu Kalambay in March.
Barkley (25-5, 16 knockouts) is coming off his most disappointing loss, to Roberto Duran in February on a split decision that cost him his WBC crown.
Nunn will receive in excess of $1 million for the fight, Barkley a little bit under half-a-million.
The choice of Reno as a site ends months of negotiations that involved Las Vegas, Atlantic City and the Forum.
The fight will be televised by HBO.
