Contest : Garlic Fest Deadline Is June 25

Entries for the Great Garlic Recipe Contest and Cook-Off, part of the Gilroy Garlic Festival, are being accepted through June 25.

The festival runs from July 28 to 30, with the cook-off held on July 29.

First prize winner will receive $1,000, second prize, $500 and third prize $300. An additional $100 prize will be awarded for the best recipe using the most garlic. Finalists will be reimbursed for cost of ingredients and one night’s lodging in Gilroy, where the cook-off will take place.

Each recipe must contain at least three cloves of fresh garlic or its equivalent in processed garlic. Original recipes or original variations of classic recipes may be submitted.

Send typed or printed recipes on 8 1/2x11-inch paper to: Recipe Contest 1989, Gilroy Garlic Festival, P.O. Box 2311, Gilroy, Calif. 95020.

Entrants unable to come to Gilroy to compete are eligible to win one of four $75 prizes. These entries should be marked “Regional Competition Only.”
