SportScope : Fram SC to Play Newport Harbor for Soccer Title

The Fram SC soccer team plays Newport Harbor of Orange County Saturday at 5 p.m. at Birmingham High School in Van Nuys in the championship game of the U-23 State Circuit. Coached by El Camino Coach Norm Jackson, Fram SC is composed of area players under 23 years old. Fram SC defeated Newport Harbor in a regular season game this season.

The Los Angeles Heat will play a Western Soccer League game Saturday against the California Kickers at Birmingham High School in Van Nuys. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

Ascot Raceway will hold its annual “Salute to Indy” night Saturday. It features a CRA 50-lap sprint car main. Action begins at 8. On Sunday, USAC midgets, three-quarter midgets and Outlaw mini-stocks run at 7 p.m. Monday night NASCAR pro stocks, bomber ovals and figure 8s perform at 6. A demolition derby is also scheduled.

Sign-ups for South Redondo Beach Region 34 of the American Youth Soccer Organization are slated for the first two Saturdays in June at the South High School gymnasium in Torrance. The cost is $40 per athlete and a birth certificate is required of all new players. A discount for families with more than one participant is offered. Play begins in September.
