Gang members fighting with a rival Friday pushed him out into a Willowbrook street and into the path of an oncoming car, sheriff’s deputies said.

Theron Davis, 17, of Compton, described as a gang member, had started fighting about midnight with three rivals in a liquor store parking lot. During the scuffle, the rivals pushed the teen-ager out into the street and into the path of a car, Deputy Roger Hom said.

The boy died of his injuries about two hours later. The rivals escaped and the driver of the car, who was not involved in the fight, was not held, Hom said.
