First-round leader Tom Sieckemann, Australian Wayne Grady and Dick Mast shared the lead at eight-under-par 134 Friday before rain halted play in the Westchester golf tournament at Harrison, N.Y.

Sieckman shot a one-under-par 70, Gray a 65 and Mast a 68.

A steady rain flooded portions of the Westchester Country Club course and forced a suspension of play with 99 players in the field of 157 still out or awaiting their starting times.

Heavy rain and strong wind knocked out power and blew down trees at the Senior Tournament Players Championship in Ponte Vedra, Fla., but couldn’t stop Gary Player.

The three-time Masters champion shot a six-under-par 66 on the 6,646-yard TPC at Sawgrass Valley course for a 134 total and a one-stroke lead over Butch Baird, who shot a 68.

Patty Rizzo recorded 14 points for the second straight day and took a two-point lead over Myra Blackwelder, 28-26, in the LPGA Pat Bradley tournament at High Point, N.C.

The Clemson Tigers, taking advantage of poor play by first-round leader Arizona and a favorable ruling, held a five-stroke lead after two rounds of the 1989 NCAA championship at Edmond, Okla.

Kevin Johnson led the way for Clemson with a one-under-par 69 that gave him the two-day individual lead with a 135 total, but Johnson had to survive two inquiries by NCAA and tournament officials regarding a problem with his scorecard that could have resulted in his disqualification.
