Cereal Center Concedes Breakfast Table Title
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The city that’s home to three cereal companies on Saturday conceded “longest breakfast table” honors to Springfield, Mass.
The serving of cold cereal and milk in the city’s downtown pedestrian mall fell short by 1,013 people.
Organizers said breakfast was served by cereal ambassadors at Kellogg’s, Post and Ralston Purina to 32,856 people, compared to the 33,869 who turned out in the New England city on May 13 to start their day with pancakes.
Organizers said they conceded that title, but would never give up the “cereal capital of the world” title. They blamed poor weather for keeping participants away.
