Showing astonishing strength for a Top 10 novice, Fine Young Cannibals continues to hold down the No. 1 position on the Billboard magazine pop album chart--its fourth week on top. The Jacksons’ “2300 Jackson Street” is showing early signs of bombing, moving up only two notches to No. 63 in its second chart week. Another potential bomb--Diana Ross’ slow-starting album, “Workin’ Overtime” (No. 144). The hottest new pop album is Stevie Nicks’ “The Other Side of the Mirror” (No. 15). Two other veteran singers are having chart troubles: Aretha Franklin’s album “Through the Storm” (No. 67) fizzled fast and is slipping down the chart; Paul McCartney’s “Flowers in the Dirt” debuted at No. 66.

* The debut album by this young female singer/rapper has critics raving. Fans are also wild about Neneh Cherry, whose album entered the chart impressively--at No. 58. Her “Buffalo Stance” single, which helped create the buzz about her, is No. 3 and could be the next No. 1 pop single.
