Police Identify Slain Drug Dealer Suspect
A suspected drug dealer killed by a SWAT officer raiding a South-Central area rock cocaine house was identified Friday as Isadore Lyman Green, 31, of Los Angeles.
Officer Scott Reitz, 36, fired two shots from his 12-gauge shotgun at Green, striking him in the head and chest Thursday afternoon as he reached for a sawed-off shotgun when officers ordered him to put his hands over his head, Lt. William Hall said.
Green was pronounced dead at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center shortly after the shooting.
Reitz, a 13-year veteran, was among a group of Special Weapons and Tactics team members who forced their way into the fortified house at 810 W. 80th St. Police had learned it was a rock house from drug buyers recently arrested in the area, Hall said.
The SWAT officers confronted Green as he sat on the kitchen floor, a sawed-off shotgun at his side, Hall said.
“The suspect refused the officers commands to put his hands on top of his head and suddenly reached for the shotgun,” Hall said.
Officers found several rocks of cocaine at the house, Hall said.
