Two teen-agers were wounded Saturday in an early-morning drive-by shooting at a popular fast-food restaurant in Santa Ana, police said.

Sgt. Bob Clark said that at 12:45 a.m., shots were fired from a car cruising the parking lot of the Jack-in-the-Box restaurant at 1500 South Bristol Street, near Edinger Avenue.

A young woman, whose name was not released because she is a juvenile, was shot in the right knee. Her friend, 18-year-old Eduardo Javier Mojarro of Paramount, suffered a bullet wound to his left foot.

Both were treated at Coastal Communities Hospital in Santa Ana and were listed in fair condition.

Clark said the restaurant is frequented by high school students on the weekends and may have been the scene of heavier-than-usual activity Saturday morning because of recent graduation ceremonies.

“There was a low-rider vehicle cruising the parking lot and for unknown reasons, they were fired on,” Clark said. He said police did not know if the shooting was gang-related.

“We have a lot of cruiser problems, usually on Sunday nights,” Clark said. “It may have been because of graduation, kids out of school and letting off some steam.”
