Yoshiro Araki; Fuji Bank Chairman
Yoshiro Araki, 67, chairman of Fuji Bank, the third-largest Japanese bank in terms of volume. It is a close competitor of Sumitomo Bank for highest profitability in 1989, according to the Japan Company Handbook, a ranking that makes it one of the world’s top banks. Fuji Bank acts as the center of the Fuyo company group. A graduate of Kyoto University, Araki joined Fuji Bank--then called Yasuda Bank--in 1945. He was selected president for three two-year terms starting in 1981 and became chairman in June, 1987. In Tokyo on June 3 of pneumonia.
