Alain Prost of France, driving a McLaren-Honda, held onto the pole position for today’s Grand Prix of Canada and snapped the string of eight consecutive poles won by his Brazilian teammate, Ayrton Senna.
Friday’s run by Prost set track marks of 1 minute 20.973 seconds and 121.277 m.p.h. to break Senna’s records of 1:21.681 and 120.225 m.p.h. for the 2.73-mile course at Montreal.
