Jockey Earlie Fires became the first rider in the 98-year history of Chicago’s Hawthorne Race Course to win all six of the races in which he rode.

Fires, 42, won the second and fourth races and then the sixth through the ninth.

The last rider who went six for six at a Chicago area track was Monk Overton, who had a perfect day at Washington Park, July 10, 1981. The Hawthorne record of seven winners on a single card was set by Johnny Heckmann, Oct. 1, 1956, but he had eight mounts.
