NATION : Rep. Yates Faints at House Session
Rep. Sidney R. Yates (D-Ill.) fainted in a chair on the House floor today, but his press secretary said he recovered quickly and did not appear to have suffered any serious illness.
The 79-year-old, 20-term congressman from Chicago became dizzy and fainted for about a minute during a House session. Six members of the medical staff that serves Congress placed a blood pressure cuff on his left arm and a heart monitor on his chest. After 15 minutes, they wheeled him out of the chamber in a wheelchair.
“I feel fine,” Yates said as he left.
