Filly Trained by Whittingham Wins Feature
Raintree Renegade, ridden by Gary Stevens, came from next to last to overtake the pace-setter Wednesday and win Hollywood Park’s $35,000 turf feature race by 1 1/4 lengths.
Nairobi Express, the front-runner ridden by Chris McCarron, finished second, three-quarters of a length in front of G’Day For Flyin, ridden by Russell Baze, in the field of six older fillies and mares.
Raintree Renegade, a filly trained by Charlie Whittingham, covered 1 1/16 miles over a firm course in 1:42 1/5 and paid $3.20, $2.20 and $2.10. Nairobi Express returned $2.80 and $2.40 while G’Day For Flyin paid $2.60 to show.
