Car pools are not exactly an ancient and venerable tradition among Californians, and Orange County is no different. In the county’s seven most populous cities, those with populations of 100,000 or more, there are approximately 5,800 car pools in operation that leave the cities. Van pooling, though, is obviously an idea whose time has not yet arrived. Just 150 leave our largest cities--those with a total population of 1.1 million.
