LAS VEGAS — A United Airlines Boeing 727 jet was diverted to Las Vegas Friday when the aircraft experienced hydraulic failure on a flight from San Diego to Los Angeles, a spokeswoman said.
The plane landed safely at McCarran International Airport at 8:16 a.m., according to airport spokeswoman Debbie Shimp.
She said the plane carried 73 passengers and crew members.
Shimp said the aircraft was diverted to McCarran because of fog and haze at Los Angeles International Airport, the aircraft’s destination.
The pilot reported no nose wheel steering capability on the aircraft, according to Shimp, and emergency vehicles stood by when the plane landed.
Shimp said the passengers were placed on other flights to Los Angeles.
