Rail Service

I ride Amtrak as much as possible in my commute from San Juan Capistrano to Santa Ana. Much of the time I am forced to drive due to the delays and unpredictable schedule on the train, often due to the one-track system from San Diego to Los Angeles.

Be that as it may, the train is virtually full each day on the northbound trains from San Diego (sometimes standing room only).

We now are going to spend $145,000 to create a study on a train between Southern California and Las Vegas, Nev.

Our legislators in California would serve the public better by directing their efforts toward a high-speed (or low, for that matter) train system.

Bringing our major Southern California cities together in a commuter-based rail transportation system will serve our people, our economy, and our health far better than a 70-minute ride to “Glitzville” in the Nevada desert.

What a terrible shame it is that such worthwhile efforts are so misdirected.
