Lesson Drawn From Fund-Raiser
I was one of the 800 fools that contributed $250 to a fund-raiser in April for Sports Kids, an organization that David Baker was associated with. I see that of the $200,000 that was raised for the event, the organization cleared $30,000 after expenses.
When I tried to find Sports Kids or its parent, Sports Properties, in the phone book they were not listed. Apparently, they didn’t raise enough money for a telephone. This should be another lesson to everybody. No matter how good something may sound, you need to check it out. If David Baker ever calls you for a contribution, remember--he is probably getting a percentage.
