Fund Established to Aid Homeless

Help the Homeless Help Themselves Inc., a Palos Verdes Peninsula group that raises money for organizations assisting the homeless, has established a permanent $20,000 fund for low-interest loans to help working families pay rent and utilities, according to the group’s president, Bill Finkel.
“This is for those who earn too little to pay first or last month’s rent, so they will not be homeless,” said Finkel, a Rancho Palos Verdes resident who founded the group in 1987.
Finkel said any shelter may refer people to the group and individuals also may apply. More information is available from Finkel at (213) 377-3213.
