Drivers Told to Avoid Imperial Highway
If Imperial Highway is your normal route to Los Angeles International Airport, it’s time for a change, airport officials said Monday.
Construction of the Century Freeway has tied up traffic along Imperial, and airport officials are advising motorists to avoid using Imperial between Aviation and Sepulveda boulevards.
Two westbound and three eastbound lanes of Imperial will be open between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m., and left turns on Nash, Kilroy and Douglas streets will be prohibited during these hours.
Two-lane traffic will be open in each direction during other hours, and the median lane will be used for left turns, officials said. Trucks using the airport’s Imperial Cargo Terminal should approach from the east and enter from Aviation at 111th Street.
