Speedway motorcyclist Sam Ermolenko of Cypress won the Overseas Final and Ronnie Correy of Fullerton finished third in the second qualifying round for the world championship Sunday at Belle Vue, England.

Ermolenko scored 13 points in five heat races. He is the only U.S. rider to qualify for four consecutive world championships and has finished third in the World Final twice in four years.

Correy won a four-lap runoff against Simon Wigg of England to finish third after both riders scored 11 points. Kelvin Tatum of Great Britain finished second with 12 points.

The top nine scorers in the 16-rider field advance to the Intercontinental Final Aug. 13. Two other U.S. riders--Lance King of Fountain Valley and Rick Miller of Reseda--failed to advance.

King finished 13th with five points and Miller 14th with four points. Miller was a replacement for Shawn Moran of Huntington Beach, who was suspended 10 days ago from all world championship events for the 1989 season after tests revealed high blood alcohol content at a race in Denmark last month.
