2nd Suspect Sought in Slaying at Bank
Police were searching Thursday for a second man in connection with the June 10 shooting death of a Long Beach college student who had come to the aid of his girlfriend after she was robbed at a bank teller machine, officials said.
Daniel Plunkett, 19, of Long Beach, who was arrested June 23, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to murder and robbery charges in connection with the incident.
Authorities announced Thursday that they are searching for a second man, Robert Dennis Frye, 19, who was allegedly involved in the killing. “We have reason to believe he drove the getaway vehicle,” said Long Beach Police Detective Tim Cable.
Frye, a white male with red hair and brown eyes, is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 185 pounds, police said. He was last seen riding a red, white and blue Yamaha FZ 750 super sport-style motorcycle with California license plate 25 A 0940, Cable said.
Plunkett has been charged with murder with a firearm and robbery. If convicted, he faces the death penalty. He is being held without possibility of bail, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 20.
