To ban or not to ban the burning of the American flag: That is the hot question on TV this Fourth of July weekend.

Former federal judge and rejected Supreme Court nominee Robert Bork gets things going on the flag-burning controversy today at 9:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. on CNN’s “Evans & Novak.”

Bork will be back Sunday to discuss the subject on “Face the Nation,” along with Sen. Robert Dole (R-Kan.), at 9:30 a.m. (2)(8).

Elsewhere Sunday, “This Week With David Brinkley” will put its own spin on the flag-burning issue with comments from Atty. Gen. Richard Thornburgh, Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del.) and Rep. Bob Michel (R-Ill.), 11:30 a.m. (7)(3)(10).

“The McLaughlin Group” will also talk about the fury over the flag as well as the problems facing Pete Rose at 9 a.m. (4) and 5:30 p.m. (50).

Meanwhile, Monty Python fans will find reason to wander over to their TV sets Sunday as Channel 28 offers four back-to-back episodes of “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” beginning at 4 p.m. The station will air four episodes of the series every Sunday in July.
