7 Hurt, 2 Critically, as Balcony Collapses
Two people were critically injured and five were hurt slightly late Tuesday in Playa del Rey when they crowded onto a wooden balcony to watch fireworks and the balcony collapsed.
The incident occurred just south of Ballona Creek, a little more than a mile from a fireworks display at Marina del Rey.
Los Angeles City Fire Department spokesman Jim Williamson said the identities and exact conditions of the injured were not available.
Several rescue crews responded to the incident which took place at 60 East 65th Ave. at 9:10 p.m., he said.
