Russ Francis, tight end for the New England Patriots, has been freed on $2,800 bail after his arrest in Nevada for alleged drunk driving and alleged carrying of a concealed weapon.
Francis, a 13-year National Football League veteran, was allegedly riding his motorcycle 58 m.p.h in a 45 m.p.h zone, according to reports Tuesday in the Boston Herald and the Boston Globe. He was not charged with speeding, but subsequently failed a sobriety test and refused a blood test, the reports said.
Francis was also charged with failing to wear a helmet, riding an unregistered vehicle, failing to have proof of insurance, riding with an expired California driver’s license and carrying a handgun.
Francis is to appear in court in Reno at a date to be announced.
Sgt. Keith McCoy of the Incline Village Sheriff’s Dept. said Nevada law requires a 30-day mandatory sentence on a first conviction of driving under the influence of alcohol.
