Soo Nyung Kim of South Korea bettered her own world record in women’s individual competition as qualifying rounds at the World Archery Championships wound up today with shooting over 30 and 50 meters.

Kim, the Olympic gold medalist, added 685 points to her first-day scores over 60 and 70 meters for a total of 1,369 points, 16 more than the four-distance world’s best she set at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
