A man on the ground was killed and two others were injured--one of them critically--when their Air National Guard truck was struck by a jet fighter that crashed during a takeoff attempt at March Air Force Base near Riverside. The two-man Air National Guard crew of the F-4C Phantom jet ejected safely at an altitude of about 200 feet a few seconds before the plane plummeted earthward and struck the vehicle at the end of a base runway, guard officials said. None of the men involved were immediately identified.
