A pickup truck ran a stop sign in Palmdale and broadsided a car, killing a passenger in the pickup and injuring four other people, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported today.

Charles Spencer, 36, of Palmdale was killed in the accident at Palmdale Boulevard and 40th Street East, Deputy Michael Rice said.

Rice said the pickup driven by Teresa A. Carbaugh, 27, of Lancaster was heading north on 40th Street at 3 a.m. Monday and did not stop at Palmdale Boulevard. The pickup struck a car driven westbound by Craig Haider, 19, of Las Vegas.
