THE SIDELINES : 3 Soccer Stars Reportedly Defect

GOTEBORG, Sweden —
Three East German soccer stars defected just hours before their team played a Swedish club in an international cup match, the Swedish team manager said today.
The leaders of the East German first division club Wismut Aue and their Swedish hosts Orgryte IF believe that the three, one member of the national team and two from the junior national team, left the country Wednesday.
“They are probably already in West Germany,” Orgryte Manager Lennart Magnusson said.
